Browning Bag Winter League on the river trent
Browning`s,
North Eastern sponsored team, Browning Quaker, were crowned Angling
Trust Winter League Champions 2013, with a points tally of 82pts, 7pts
clear of 2nd place, Leicester Sensas.
Fished on the Tidal River
Trent, the North East rods, had 2 anglers in the top 6 with Captain
Peter Close taking 4th with 4 kilo 430 grams and Lewis Mackintosh 5th
with 3 kilo 740 grams. In addition to this they had section wins from
Johnny Maddison and Mala Dunlop, Andy Nelson and Scott Lister with
section 3rds, with all the team catching and lowest points score of 3pts
saw them over the finish line.
The
river was far from being in its best conditions with gin clear water
and the lowest tide of the year forecast. However this did not deter the
team, as a big powerful river fishing out of sorts was right up the
teams’ street. Running up to the big day the team fished all the
practice matches, with 10 anglers at a time making the long trip down
from County Durham, and this paid dividends as they got to know the pegs
and moods of the river.
Team tactics was
simple, catch a fish to begin with, on any method you see fit as you
saw your peg, whether it be waggler, stick, pole, whip or feeder, the
blank needed to be avoided. 8 out of the ten anglers caught in the first
hour, with Johnny Maddison winning his section with his first chuck!!
It was then a case of staying well up in your section either through big
fish on the feeder or small fish on the waggler, pole, and whip.
There’s a saying that the
good pegs look after themselves, but the bad pegs looked after the team
in this final with special praise going to Neil Nicholson and Mala
Dunlop, both drew pegs that had not produced a single fish in the run up
to the final. Neil managed 1 chublet and 7 bleak for 4th in his
section, whilst Mala managed a bream that won his section.

Here is a report from last weekends
competition. I went to Malmö to the classic river Sege for a
competition. I had been informed of that the fish had been starting coming
up the river. The first day were slow on my section, were I had 9,2 kg and
the winner on my section had 21 kg. On the other section the highest weight
were 37 kg. So it looked promising for the next day.
At the draw I manage to get the same peg as the day
before and it didn’t feel good at all. After ten minutes the fish arrived
and it was an inferno for almost the full five hour match. It took four
person to lift up the keepnet from the water and after the wayin I had manage
to get 98,2 kg of mainly Ide waying between 400-800 g and some bigger ones.
I used Browning Slimstar 11 m and fished it as a
whip at 5,5 m. There is no limits to what that pole can do as I swinged in 800
g fish to hand. In case of groundbait I used Grand Slam and M7 and
coloured it red. I ended up at 3:ed place over all.Browning sign SPA Match Group

Browning UK Sponsored team meeting and match at Coleman’s Cottage - 2011
October saw the annual Browning UK team meeting event take place at the prolific Coleman's Cottage fishery in Witham, Essex. The annual event is organised by Browning for its UK sponsored teams and individuals as a “thank you” for their support in promoting the brand. It also brings the anglers together to build the broader Browning team spirit and to discuss products. This year Browning arranged for their new Z12 Evolution pole to be on display for all to try and it’s certainly now been put on a lot of the anglers’ “Christmas list”!
More than 70 anglers attended the event and, as usual, Coleman’s Cottage didn’t disappoint. Weights were good despite the first frost of the year with 75lb needed to win a section and 100lb needed to “frame”. The match was followed by a meal and prize giving.
Zebco Europe’s Marketing & Public Relations Manager, Frerk Petersen, who travelled from Germany for the meeting and to present the prizes, commented “It’s really good to see the commitment our teams give to Browning, and to see our tackle being put to the test with Coleman’s hard fighting carp. It was also pleasing to see the overwhelmingly positive response to our new Z12 Evolution pole which we are sure will be as successful as our Z9”
